Dr. Michael Mack, a practicing cardiothoracic surgeon for twenty-four years, is the founder of COR Specialty Associates of North Texas (CSANT) physician group. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Cardiopulmonary Research Science & Technology Institute, as well as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services and Director of Transplantation for Medical City Dallas Hospital.
Board certified in Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Internal Medicine, Dr. Mack began his practice in Dallas in 1982. Dr. Mack soon became involved in the creation and development of minimally invasive surgical techniques including video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). He was also instrumental in the development of endoscopic spine surgery and has continued research on endoscopic applications of cardiac surgery since 1992.
He holds office on numerous committees, including; The American Association of Thoracic Surgery (www.aats.org) /The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (www.sts.org) /Joint Committee on Thoracoscopy and Video Assisted Surgery, Video Assisted Thoracic Study Group Committee, Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board on Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Interest Group and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons Ad Hoc Committee on New Technology Assessment.
Dr. Mack is on staff at several hospitals in Texas and has Visiting Professorships in the People's Republic of China, Brazil, Egypt and Sweden. As well as making over 150 presentations on cardiac and thoracic surgery in over 30 countries, he has published 100 plus peer review journals, over 60 book chapters and edited three books on surgery.
