Dr. Ron Underwood is a clinical cardiologist and founder/president of The Dallas Heart Group. He is board certified in cardiovascular medicine and internal medicine and maintains a special interest in nuclear cardiology and transesophageal echocardiography.
Dr. Underwood has served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas since 1974. Prior to founding The Dallas Heart Group, he served as Chief of Medicine and Director of Cardiology for Medical City Dallas Hospital, and as Associate Director of the Department of Cardiology, for the Cardiopulmonary Institute at Methodist Hospitals of Dallas.
Dr. Underwood is the author/co-author of numerous publications and is a frequent presenter on the topics of positron emission tomography (P.E.T.), nuclear cardiac medicine and echocardiography. Dedicated to education, he has served as course director and program director for numerous cardiovascular symposiums on a local, regional and national forum. Dr. Underwood is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians, as well as an active member of the Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and American Medical Association. He is past president and currently on the Honorary Board of the American Heart Association in Dallas.
